Curriculum Unit (pdf)

Synopsis:

This unit is built for teachers and students who are not necessarily comfortable with physics concepts. Some teachers at the elementary level are not sure how to incorporate science in their teaching, since science may not have been an enjoyable or easy subject for them during their early academics. With this in mind, this unit seeks to teach a fifth-grade lesson on forces and motion, using hands-on activities in a structured format for the teacher, yet in a broad, flexible format for the students. Appendix 2 and Appendix 3 contain a unit outline and materials. Appendix 4 contains an annotated bibliography.
