Abstract

This is a series of transdisciplinary Kindergarten Media lessons that presents some facet of color in terms of science, art, literature or culture throughout the academic year. Picture books will be used to introduce concepts such as color names, color mixing, light, vision, natural adaptation, artists and the significance of colors in cultures around the world in six 6-week units, based on The International Baccalaureate Organization’s Primary Years Programme.

Media lessons will either frontload, support or provide a closure to lessons taught in the homeroom. Related activities have been designed to appeal to kinesthetic learners.  In addition to the lessons, there will be topical book displays, posters or prints and related to the unit on display in the Library Media Center.
