Abstract

This unit is designed for middle school students primarily as a study of Earth’s atmosphere. Earth’s atmosphere will be compared to the atmospheres of several other planets. The structure and composition of each planet’s atmosphere will be compared as well as winds and storms.

There is some discussion of the evolution of Earth’s atmosphere, as well as the evolution of a couple of other planets’ atmospheres. The featured activities will focus on air pressure and density and the Coriolis effect.
