Abstract

Art has long been hailed for its purpose, movements and the genius of the artists. Fashion seems to be the neglected art. It has only been recently that critics and historians are realizing fashions relevance as an art form as well as its place in history.

There is no better time to draw a comparative analysis of art and fashion than during the style movements of the Modernist period. Through the use of structural and decorative analysis and the principles and elements of design, this unit sets the teacher up with the information, background and strategies to challenge students to discover those connections between fashion and art.
