Synopsis

This unit is designed to introduce middle school Social Studies teachers to strategies which can help struggling readers internalize the skill of close reading. Its specific purpose is to help these teachers learn how to create literacy-based activities in order to help struggling readers obtain mastery of cognitive reading strategies and essential Social Studies concepts.
