Pam Shembo, 5th Grade, South Academy of International Languages
Synopsis
This curriculum unit is divided into two parts. In the first section, the students analyze a French song, L’Ours, interpreted by Christophe Mae and Youssou N’Dour. In the second section, the learners discover and explore thirteen Francophone paintings. The pedagogical and philosophical approach adopted throughout this paper is teaching and learning through embodied practices. The intention is to present the students with activities
that engage both the mind and the body. In this methodology, these two entities work in harmony. The assignments are varied and challenging. They incite the pupils to move with purpose, to think critically, to interact in French, to imagine, and to create.
